14th September - Mykonos to Athens

We woke to find that the wind was up today 27km/h winds with 45km/h gusts. Not the best day to be taking our first fast ferry! We had another lovely breakfast then set off to the main bus station in Mykonos town.

So rough that the waves hitting the dock were making a huge spray of water into the air

It was a difficult, rough and rocky, 3 hour journey to Athens but luckily I was not sick. I had taken only ginger tablets and some ginger lollies while on the journey and it worked well. We had a stop at Siros to drop off and pick up passengers and went out on deck for a breather. When we got close to Piraeus we both headed out to watch the view coming into the port. It was very very windy and I almost lost the scarf I had tied around my ponytail.

Once back in Piraeus we walked to the metro and caught the same line as we did to arrive there 14 days ago. This time we alighted at Monastiriki to get to our home for the next four nights the Tempi Hotel. When checking in the guy at reception told us we had a room on the 4th floor with Acropolis views. We were very excited about that but our excitement was tempered a little when we went out on the balcony.
We do have a great view over an archaeological dig opposite our hotel in Agias Irinis place. And a view of the Acropolis and the Parthenon on top if we lean out over the balcony.

We decided to have dinner on the balcony, so picked up a meal from one of the many restaurants along the street our hotel is on enjoying the wonderful view from our balcony.
