11th September - Sailing the waters of Naxos
We had a good nights sleep as we were both so exhausted from yesterday. After breakfast we set off down to the harbour to join the sailing trip we booked last night. It was a sunny warm day with light winds, a perfect day for sailing. The skipper explained the winds were coming from the North so we would be sailing to the top of the island which only happens about four times in a season. When we first boarded we were offered coffee and once our way to our first swimming spot we were offered water and a snack of bruschetta. I enjoyed the Naxian soft cheese from the top of one and David had the rest plus his own.

Fun in the sun sailing the Aegean
As we sailed up the side of the island we passed a pod of dolphins. The skipper circled back around for us to get a better look. The other boats that were following us up the coast missed them.Passing a pod of dolphins

Once we made it to Agii Theodori bay they anchored and we had a lovely time snorkeling and swimming with the fishies.🐟 🐠 The water was spectacularly blue and clear. Catriona at the helm

After lunch the skipper cut the motor and set the main sail and genoa and we sailed back down the coast. It was lovely and quiet with just the sound of the wind in the sails.
We stopped once more for a swim just on the Northern side of the harbour near Grotta beach. We had a quick dip here before heading back to port and ending our wonderful day on the yacht.
We headed back to the hotel for a shower and later on went out for dinner in a little restaurant by the harbour for dinner where we enjoyed a dinner of Naxian fried cheese and 3 different Naxian sausages.
Interesting light fittings in the restaurant, colanders and cheese graters!
Another wonderful day in paradise.
