3rd September - Day trip to Naousa

David is a pain, he will not sleep in. We were up at 5:30am again!! This meant that we were at the Bus station 30 minutes before the bus was due to leave. Luckily there was a shop open and I was able to buy a coffee to drink while we waited. I purchased our tickets to and from Naousa €2 each, each way.

It was a pleasant bus ride to Naousa and we arrived in time to see the streets and alleyways void of other tourists. This made taking pictures and getting around very easy.

We walked up the hill to Faneromeni church where we had stunning views over the town and harbour.

We then found Ragoussis bakery was open and figured it was time for a tasty treat. I had a freddo  cappuccino (iced coffee) and an almond slice and David had a hot chocolate as something went wrong in translation (he was supposed to get an iced chocolate) and some kind of huge vanilla slice.

In my research of our holiday I had watched a YouTube video of a couple from the UK who suggested catching the first ferry over to Kolimbythres beach, so that is what we did. The first ferry left at 10am.

Kolimbythres beach is surrounded by smooth rocks and not a lot of sand. We found our spot on the rocks to leave our bags and went in for a swim in the lovely crystal clear water. While we were in the water, females (probably instagramers) were posing on the rocks near our bags so when they left we decided we would imitate them. We think we did a good job, 😂.

It was getting crowded so we decided to head on to Monastiri beach, again the advice from a YouTube couple was to walk there. It was a 2km walk on the side of the road with no shoulder, luckily it was not too busy. We passed a property with cute little working windmill replicas.

Once we made it to Paros park it wasn’t very far to Monastiri beach. We passed by the Monastery of St John’s of Deti and decided not to visit as there were so many people climbing all over it that it didn’t seem right.

Our UK guide said save your money and bring a picnic lunch so we had bought lunch at the bakery and sat on the rocks to eat it saving €60 for the privilege of sitting on a sun lounge!

We had a nice dip in the shallow waters but couldn’t see the attraction of being here as the water was no more than waist deep and there were many people. We moved around to where the ferry left and found the water was nicer and not as many people.

Another lovely day in Paros, calm, sunny 29°. Unfortunately we both got a little sunburn where we missed applying sunscreen (mainly lover legs and feet). We will have to be more careful in the future.
