4th September - Checking out Parikia

I think we are finally over the jet lag as David didn’t get up till 6am. He decided to go for an early morning run around an athletics track not far from the hotel that we had seen from the bus yesterday.

We had breakfast at the table outside our room before heading off to a bakery for an iced coffee/chocolate and a tasty treat (orange syrup cake for David today). We found a large supermarket where there was a gluten free section so I stocked up on bread, cereal and biscuits. Then we set off to visit the Panagia Ekatontapiliani, commonly known as the Church of one hundred doors. The church was originally built in the 4th century and added to over the centuries.

Next was a visit to the Archaeological Museum with displays from as far back as 5000 BC.

In the afternoon we walked around to Krios beach where we set up our beach shade and had a lovely time swimming and snorkeling. We were surprised to see some very colourful fish just like ones we have seen in the Maldives and Fiji.

We finished the day with an excellent dinner at a restaurant next to the marina, we then did a final walk  around Parikia to see the town under lights.
